#GodSaysMove — Day 3
Today’s plan was a hike. My youngest had a scouts fishing trip, and while he was gone, the other two and I were going to hit the trails nearby.
Scouts canceled again. Second time in two days.
We came home. It was lunchtime. Everyone was tired. The couch had opinions.
It would have been easy to call it. But my middle son had been asking about an off-leash trail where the dog could run near the river. So after feeding everyone and the usual wrangling, that’s what we did instead.
Three miles. Dog in the river. Everyone tired in the best way by the end.
My body is still sore. I was on the edge of a headache all afternoon. I had another Airbnb turnover to do. My head has a running list of reasons for why today could be an exception.
None of them won.
I made a commitment. And I’m starting to want to know what thirty days of actually listening to God looks like - not just intending to.
Something else I noticed. Last night, getting ready for bed, I’d normally be doomscrolling. Checked out. Horizontal. Half asleep with my phone.
I didn’t want to. It didn’t even pull at me.
I picked up a book instead. Read for the first time in a while.
I don’t think that’s a coincidence. I think when you start listening in one area, you start listening in others. Movement opened something. Or maybe obedience did.
Thirty days. I’m paying attention.
Day 3: done.
